Meet Our Director of Early Childhood
Carrie Stull
Carrie proudly served in the United States Army, where she was stationed in South Korea. After returning home, she discovered her passion for early childhood education—a path that has now spanned more than 25 years. Throughout her career, Carrie has been dedicated to creating environments where children are known, respected, and inspired to learn through meaningful relationships, exploration, and discovery. She is passionate about supporting educators, partnering with families, and building a school where curiosity and strong relationships guide everything we do. Carrie holds a Bachelor's degree from The Evergreen State College, is the mother of four grown children, and is proud to be Jewish, a part of her identity that continues to shape the values she brings to her work. Outside of Little Wings, she enjoys watching soccer, spending time with her family, and dreaming about her next sunny beach getaway.
Meet Our Educators
May Kim, Lead Teacher
May was born and raised in South Korea, where she studied early childhood education and earned her certification as a childcare teacher. She began her career working with children ages 5 to 7 before moving to Canada, where she completed additional Infant/Toddler training and spent about eight years working in a Reggio-inspired early childhood program with children from infancy through age five. May believes children are capable, curious, and full of potential. She values creating a classroom where children feel safe, respected, and encouraged to explore, express their ideas, and grow at their own pace. After moving to the Seattle area, May worked as a Lead Teacher in a Younger Preschool classroom. Outside of the classroom, she is also a writer and received a New Writer Award for her essays and poetry. She enjoys reading, coffee outdoors, meaningful conversations, and traveling.
D.J. Bowers, Lead Teacher
D.J. grew up with barns, pastures, haylofts, and piles of shavings as her playgrounds, which instilled a lasting love of nature. She enjoys exploring small towns, visiting farmers' markets, thrifting, walking, and hiking. D.J. earned both her AA and BA in Early Childhood Education from Lake Washington Institute of Technology. After visiting the Hundred Languages exhibit in Seattle, she became deeply inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy and has spent the past seven years continuing to learn more about the approach. She believes children are capable, curious, and full of ideas, and values giving them time and space to explore, ask questions, take risks, and make meaning from the world around them. In 2024, D.J. traveled to Aotearoa, New Zealand, where she had the opportunity to learn more about its culturally rich, community-driven, Reggio Emilia-inspired approach to early childhood education.
Annika Shepherd, Assistant Teacher
Annika has nearly 10 years of experience working in youth development. She began as a camp counselor with Scouting America and later moved into developing and adapting curriculum with a focus on making experiences accessible to all children. Her background in Scouting helped shape her love of hands-on learning, exploration, and giving children meaningful opportunities to learn through experience. Annika has a deep love of the outdoors and enjoys bringing curiosity, discovery, and a sense of adventure into her work with children. She values the Reggio Emilia approach and appreciates the connections between its emphasis on curiosity, exploration, and experiential learning and the principles that have guided her work throughout her career. Outside of work, Annika enjoys hiking, attending concerts, playing Magic: The Gathering, and spending time outdoors with her troop and fellow camp staff.
KayLynn Maxwell, Lead Teacher
KayLynn has more than seven years of experience working with children of a variety of ages. She enjoys creating warm, supportive environments where children feel comfortable exploring, expressing themselves, and trying new things. KayLynn believes there is joy in the everyday moments of early childhood and values being present as children make discoveries, build relationships, and develop their own sense of independence. Outside of work, KayLynn enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog, Winnie, caring for her plants, and expressing her creativity through painting and crafts.
Belaynesh Henh, Lead Teacher
Belyanesh Hehn has more than eight years of experience working in early childhood education. She is passionate about creating a warm, safe, and welcoming environment where children feel secure, valued, and encouraged to explore. Belaynesh enjoys supporting children as they build confidence, develop relationships, discover new interests, and grow through meaningful play and everyday experiences.
Alesia Spicochi, Assistant Teacher
Alesia has always dreamed of becoming a teacher and is passionate about working with children. She has six months of professional childcare experience, along with nine months of internship experience through Sno-Isle, where she worked in both an early learning program and an elementary school. She has experience with children ranging from 3 months to 11 years old and feels especially connected to young children. Alesia believes every child deserves respect, patience, and kindness. She values guiding and encouraging children as they explore their interests, learn through everyday experiences, and grow into their unique selves. Her goal is to be a caring and dependable teacher whom children and families feel comfortable trusting. She is excited to be part of the Little Wings community and to continue learning and growing alongside the children.
Cort Behr, Assistant Teacher
Cort began working as a preschool teacher in 2024, but his experience in education began in 2016 through the Scouts of America. He enjoys working with children and creating opportunities for them to learn, explore, and grow. Outside of work, Cort enjoys hiking, kayaking, cooking, and archery. He loves spending time outdoors and trying new things. Cort looks forward to getting to know the children and families at Little Wings!
Rosita Cruz, Lead Teacher
Rosita has worked in early childhood education for over six years, and toddlers have always had a special place in her heart. She enjoys supporting children as they grow in confidence, independence, curiosity, and creativity. Rosita believes children learn best when they feel safe to explore, ask questions, try new things, and follow their interests. She enjoys creating meaningful learning experiences through play, discovery, and everyday moments. She is also a certified Medical Assistant, reflecting her commitment to caring for and supporting others. Outside of school, Rosita is a proud mom to her two-year-old son, Juhn, and enjoys spending time with him, exploring new places, and trying new things together. She looks forward to getting to know the children and families at Little Wings.
Bryn Loomis, Lead Teacher
Bryn earned her B.B.A. in Marketing from the University of Portland, where she also had the opportunity to study abroad in Rome, Italy. She later earned her Masters of Education in Elementary Education and is an OSPI-certified teacher and IB-certified educator. Before transitioning into early childhood education, Bryn spent two years teaching second grade. Bryn believes that strong relationships are at the heart of meaningful learning. She values getting to know each child as an individual, discovering what excites and interests them, and finding ways to bring those interests into the classroom. She enjoys creating an environment where children feel safe and supported to explore their ideas, ask questions, take risks, and build confidence in themselves as learners. Outside of the classroom, Bryn loves spending time with and walking her three dogs. Her experience studying abroad sparked a lasting love of travel and exploring new places and cultures. She also loves attending baseball games and cheering on the Seattle Mariners!
Marin Bulatewicz, Kitchen Manager
Hi, I’m Marin! Food has always been one of my favorite ways to explore, create, and connect with others. With more than 25 years of experience in the food service industry, including managing scratch-based deli programs at Whole Foods Market and PCC Community Markets, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for fresh ingredients, sustainable practices, and reducing food waste. I love helping children explore food through tasting, touching, smelling, growing, and cooking. My goal is to encourage curiosity, adventurous eating, and a positive relationship with food while making the experience fun and approachable.
Outside of work, you can usually find me trying a new recipe, baking bread, gardening, or spending time with my family.
