Two’s is a year of big ideas
Twos Program
Two-year-olds are curious about how things work and eager to test their ideas. They are communicating more, asking questions, experimenting, and discovering that there is often more than one way to solve a problem.
Our Twos classroom gives children plenty of opportunities to investigate. They might roll a ball down a ramp and change its height to see what happens, build something and knock it down to begin again, arrange materials in different ways, or repeat an idea over and over until they understand it. Teachers pay attention to what captures children’s interest and offer materials that encourage them to keep wondering, trying, and making discoveries.
As children’s language grows, so does their ability to express their ideas, needs, and feelings. Teachers model language, listen carefully, and give children time to communicate. We also support children as they begin navigating the challenges that come with being two—waiting, navigating shared spaces, and materials handling frustration, and learning what to do when things don’t go as planned.
Independence continues to grow throughout the day. Children are encouraged to make choices, participate in routines, care for their environment, and do what they are able to do for themselves. Teachers are there to support when needed while giving children the time and confidence to try.
At Little Wings, we want two-year-olds to have room for their big ideas. Their questions, theories, experiments, and even the things that don’t work the first time are all part of how they learn.
